52 of 2013 - Week 5

52 of 2013 - Week 5. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Capturing a Day in the Life: Tips For Black & White Photography'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Picture Style / What You Are Reading'. I do love Greek Mythology. I think the darker gods get a bad rap; most of the Greek and Roman gods were pretty horrible to each other, and to humans. Fun stuff!

52 of 2013 - Week 4

52 of 2013 - Week 4. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Capturing Extraordinary Moments: Tips For Lifestyle Photography'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'My Favorite Things'. I'm still held captive to the January blahs, so didn't do much photography (or anything), this week. We did have a bit of snow though, which lead to these photos. I really wanted to caption them with something clever and witty, or perhaps even tiny knit zombie inspirationalish. But I just didn't have it in me, this week. So what does this have to do with my favorite things or lifestyle photography? I don't know. I like taking pictures of little stuff. And flowers. And weird stuff. And my kid. And my family. And... whatever. So I guess these shots work perfectly.

52 of 2013 - Week 3

52 of 2013 - Week 3. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Panoramas'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Quality and Direction of Light'.  Like the photo of the boats, last week, I took photos at the marina down the street from where I work.  14 images stitched together in Photoshop created the panorama.  Not bad for hand held photos!  I was getting similar shots with my iPhone - it has a fantastic panorama feature.  I may have to go out there, to the same spot, another day and try and get the same shot to compare.  I didn't even think of that today - I knew what I was going for and it was too cold to fiddle around for very long.

52 of 2013 - Week 2

52 of 2013 - Week 2. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Winter Activities'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Landscape', focusing on where we live. I don't get out much at this time of year; I tend to hibernate. So these are the best I was going to get. The first shot is a similar shot to one I posted a few weeks ago, when we had a lot of snow (relatively). No snow now, but it's COLD (again, relatively). The second shot is mountains that you can see from behind our house. I was going to crop out the random trees and side of a townhouse, but I liked how they sort of framed the mountain shot, so I dumped the cropped shot.  The third shot is of a tiny marina, down the street from where I work.  There are gorgeous marinas around Metro Vancouver, but this was closest and this is where I went.  Turns out I hugely underestimated how cold it was on the water that morning!  Brrr!

52 of 2013 - Week 1

52 of 2013 - Week 1. Last year, I did a daily photo challenge with Picaboo, on Facebook. They have a new challenge this year, but it's weekly, which suits me, because the daily thing was too much and I found my hobby becoming a chore. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Glitter'. My photo buddies from 2012 started a group called 'Focus 52 - Pixel Project' and the theme there is 'Newness + Watch Your Background'. I suspect I'll try and merge the two themes through this year. This is a little snowman snow globe that is at my mother's house. I love this thing! The 'snow' is all glittery and it's so pretty! I had bought a couple of them a few years ago and hers didn't work properly, so we gave her ours. It's one of my favorite Christmas decorations and I can't think of a better place for it to be, than in my parents' wonderful home. They made Christmas magical for me and continue to do it for my daughter. The reason I love Christmas is because of my amazing parents.
