366 of 2012 - Day 182

366 of 2012 - Day 182. My first attempt at photographing smoke. I would like to say there were no tantrums or cursing involved in this project, but it would be a huge lie. The theme this week is photographing fireworks, but Canada Day doesn't offer fireworks in my city. We'll see what happens. If nothing else, I am going to focus on photographing smoke and sparklers, this week.

Taken with my Canon PowerShot G12, f/2.8, 1/15 sec., ISO-160, flash (this did not work without flash), camera hand held (but rested on counter for stability), shot indoors. Edited with Photoshop; adjusted Levels and Curves.

The Adventures of Bernerd, the Tiny Knit Zombie - Chapter 4

366 of 2012 - Day 176

366 of 2012 - Day 176. I love Snapdragons. I have some that have popped up in a planter this year. I planted them a year or two ago and they just popped up voluntarily. I have fond memories of being a little girl and my dad making the snapdragons in our garden 'talk' to me and my siblings. I have loved them, ever since.

Taken with my Canon PowerShot G12, f/2.8, 1/60 sec., ISO-100, no flash, camera hand held, shot outdoors. Edited with PicMonkey and Photoshop.

Taken with my Canon PowerShot G12, f/2.8, 1/30 sec., ISO-320, no flash, camera hand held, shot outdoors. Edited with Photoshop.

366 of 2012 - Day 174. Our challenge this week is to convert photos to black and white. This was shot June 2008, and I recently converted from color to black and white. Something about boats that just looks cool in black and white.

Taken with my Canon PowerShot SD1000, f/8, 1/160 sec., ISO-80, no flash, camera hand held, shot outdoors. Edited with PicMonkey and Photoshop for sharpening, sizing and text.

366 of 2012 - Day 172. Our challenge this week is to convert photos to black and white. I actually shot this in black and white (or is it grayscale), so no comparison today, either.

366 of 2012 - Day 170. Our challenge this week is to convert photos to black and white. This is a shot taken in Steveston in July 2011.  I was going for a vintage look with this conversion.

366 of 2012 - Day 169

366 of 2012 - Day 169. Our challenge this week is to convert photos to black and white. I think I've spent more time on this project than any other, so far. I don't quite have an eye for what would make a good, dramatic, black and white conversion. I'm hoping this one is more dramatic than what I achieved yesterday.  Seems fitting for Father's Day that I post a photo of my dad with my daughter.

Taken in February with my Canon PowerShot G12, f/3.5, 1/80 sec., ISO-100, no flash, camera hand held, shot outdoors. Edited with PicMonkey, and Photoshop for the sizing and text.

366 of 2012 - Day 168

366 of 2012 - Day 168. Our challenge this week is to convert photos to black and white. The problem with this is, I think I can do it easily enough, I just always prefer the color version, even if the color is only very subtle. Weeb gave me this figurine for Mother's Day. I completely love it. And, as usual, I liked the color version of the photo better than the black and white. It's possible I don't have an eye for what makes a good black and white shot.

Taken with my Canon PowerShot G12, f/2.8, 1/20 sec., ISO-1600, no flash, camera hand held, shot indoors. The theme was supposed to include an edit with PicMonkey, but I edited with Silver Efex Pro for the black and white, and Photoshop for the sizing and text. I did use PicMonkey to make the collage.

366 of 2012 - Day 166. Our challenge this week is to take action shots. Weeb and her cousin J, having some long hair fun!

Taken with my Canon PowerShot G12, f/3.5, 1/500 sec., ISO-1000, no flash, camera hand held, shot outdoors. Edited with Photoshop - I adjusted levels, cloned some grass over some distracting flowers and sharpened slightly.

366 of 2012 - Day 165

366 of 2012 - Day 165. Our challenge this week is to take action shots. Maybe Weeb would like playing soccer; she can head butt like a pro!

Taken with my Canon PowerShot G12, f/2.8, 1/500 sec., ISO-320, no flash, camera hand held, shot outdoors. Edited with Photoshop - I adjusted levels, curves, moved the ball and adjusted Weeb's shadow slightly. I'll bet you wouldn't have known any of that if I hadn't told you, either! You might have guessed that I sharpened Weeb a bit and blurred the background slightly.

366 of 2012 - Day 164

366 of 2012 - Day 164. Our challenge this week is to take action shots. Weeb and I were swinging on a tire swing and I was aiming the camera at her face, hoping to get motion of the world around us as we were spinning. She was giggling like mad which was making me laugh and it was nearly impossible to hold the camera even close to still.

Taken with my Canon PowerShot G12, f/5, 1/30 sec., ISO-160, no flash, camera hand held, shot outdoors. Edited with PicMonkey and Photoshop.

Taken with my Canon PowerShot G12, f/2.8, 2 sec., ISO-800, no flash, camera on tripod, shot indoors - in the dark. Edited with Photoshop, adjusted Curves and Levels.

366 of 2012 - Day 162. Our challenge this week is to take action shots. I had to run alongside Weeb as she was on her scooter to try and get this effect. Not so easy when you're a clumsy gal!

Taken with my Canon PowerShot G12, f/3.2, 1/60 sec., ISO-80, no flash, camera running along with me alongside subject, shot outdoors. Edited with Photoshop, just sharpening the running shoe.

366 of 2012 - Day 153

366 of 2012 - Day 153. I'll bet you were hoping I'd show you another trinket from my house. I bought this John Lennon figurine for my husband, when we were dating, knowing what a huge fan he was. We both loved the movie the Yellow Submarine, so it seemed a fitting doo-dad to have in our home.
