52 of 2013 - Week 44

52 of 2013 - Week 44. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Tips for Halloween Cell Phone Pics'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Colors of October'.  Here we have Skeleton/Corpse Bride, some leaves, and me and the Weeb (several hours after Halloween party makeup application).

52 of 2013 - Week 43

52 of 2013 - Week 43. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Before You Click: Checking Your Settings'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Water Splashes'. My kitchen sink is the place where art becomes... well, wet.

52 of 2013 - Week 42

52 of 2013 - Week 42. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Before You Click: Prepping Your Gear'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Dear Photograph (take an old snapshot and add include it in the photo of same place)'. I didn't manage to really nail either of these projects. But here are some leaves. Because it's Autumn. And leaves are nice.

52 of 2013 - Week 41

52 of 2013 - Week 41. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Household Props to Make Your Photos Pop'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Minimalist Photography'. The hubby's Halloween earring. Getting a decent black background is WAY harder than it should be!

52 of 2013 - Week 40

52 of 2013 - Week 40. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Tips For Taking Better Photos Indoors'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Fun With Signs'.  Signs.  The SLOW dude is a sign, technically.  Right?  I liked the shot with the shadow, but the husband said he liked the close up better.  I blew out all the colors in everything, but you wanted signs, you got 'em.  I used the shot for indoor photography a few weeks ago.  Because I'm a rebel.

52 of 2013 - Week 39

52 of 2013 - Week 39. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Fall Photography'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'HDR Photography'.  Nothing says Autumn like a bunch o' pretty tree leaves.  And I'm lucky, I get a variety all in one tree!  HDR - you can do that with macro photography, right?  I dunno.  Made the diamonds pop like crazy.  Not bad for a ring I've worn for so many years!

52 of 2013 - Week 38

52 of 2013 - Week 38. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Telling a Story with 5 Photos'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Abandoned Buildings'.  This is from the end of August.  Weeb's sister was visiting and they spent as much time as possible at the pool.

52 of 2013 - Week 37

52 of 2013 - Week 37. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Reflecting On Our Photographic Journey'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Guess My Picture'.  I reflected.  And I selected a section of the concrete to make my pals guess.  Because I'm lazy.  And I just wanted to use this picture.

52 of 2013 - Week 36

52 of 2013 - Week 36. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'A-Z Photography'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Capturing Smooth Water'. The pool looks like the letter O and the water in the pool is, momentarily, smooth. Yup, winner.  Plus, the Charlie's Angels pose is just too awesome.  Weeb and her cousins were trying to 'water gun' the windows in the house next door.  They were careful not to shoot the electrical wires above (like they even could).  Wouldn't the neighbors have been overjoyed if they could reach the windows they WERE aiming for.  Sometimes the fun is in the mischief, and not necessarily in the success of the plan.

52 of 2013 - Week 35

52 of 2013 - Week 35. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Finding the Light to Enhance Your Photography'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Reflections'.  Here is another week I didn't manage to follow themes for.  So here is a close up shot of a Blokus game.

52 of 2013 - Week 34

52 of 2013 - Week 34. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Creative Photography Tips'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Shooting From the Hip'.  Weeb and her cousins.  Trying to get a photo of these three is much like trying to... I dunno, wrangle wiggly, giggly, uncooperative things.

52 of 2013 - Week 33

52 of 2013 - Week 33. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Portrait Posing Tips'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Pets in Action'.  This is as close to a portrait as I'm doing right now and it's more of a 'Pets in Inaction', but there ya go.

52 of 2013 - Week 32

52 of 2013 - Week 32. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Tips for Using Window Light'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Food Photography'.  So here is Tibboh the Terrible, lit with the window behind her and some mini cupcakes.

52 of 2013 - Week 31

52 of 2013 - Week 31. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Back to Basics: ISO'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Frame Within a Frame'. Okay, well I didn't manage either of these themes. But here is Spectra Vondergeist from Monster High. Because she's cool.

52 of 2013 - Week 30

52 of 2013 - Week 30. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Spot Metering'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Filling the Frame'. I didn't take this shot in July. I think it was September or October. I rock the deadlines! Actually, I think I used this photo for Taking Better Photos Indoors, which will show up in several weeks. Ah well, I don't care. It fills the frame and used some kind of metering, so I'm using it. It's a crystal glass full of ice water, lit from behind by a window on a mostly cloudy day.

52 of 2013 - Week 29

52 of 2013 - Week 29. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Breaking the Rules: Overexposure'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'My Town Photo Essay'. Nope. But here's another picture of Tibboh the Terrible. I likely overexposed the window, so that might qualify.

52 of 2013 - Week 28

52 of 2013 - Week 28. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Aperature'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Photographing Strangers'.  And I didn't do either.  So here is a shot of Weeb and her older sister and a good Photobomb by Tibboh the Terrible.

52 of 2013 - Week 27

52 of 2013 - Week 27. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Photographing Color: Red, White and Blue'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'National Pride'.  The first shot is of a Maple Leaf pin - you can get these in any tourist area in Canada.  My husband got this particular one when he was sworn in as a Canadian Citizen, last autumn. Next are some shots of my Weeb.  The bottom two shots were taken at a Canada Day festival, from the top of a Ferris Wheel, with my iPhone.  I couldn't see what I was photographing as the sun glare was blinding.  They turned out pretty well.  And it occurred to me a tad too late that, oh yeah, I don't like Ferris Wheels.  We wore Canada Day shirts and ponytails with maple leafs on them to celebrate the day.  We had some blue cotton candy as a tribute to the blue part of the red, white and blue to honor our southern neighbors in the USA.  Today though, it's all red and white for us!  O Canada, we party at an outdoor fair on the hottest day of the year for thee!

52 of 2013 - Week 26

52 of 2013 - Week 26. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Summer Photography'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Spheres and Orbs'. I don't really like this collection of photos.  I like them individually, but together, it's not working for me.  Ah well, here they are, my summery photos of my girl posing for me, her new running shoes (purchased the last week of school, because we just could not have one more day in the previous shoes), a paperweight that fit the 'orb' criteria and a close up of the bubbly fun inside the paperweight.  The last shot is, I'm told, a peony tree shot from a tree in my backyard.  I don't like it.  I don't hate it.  But I don't like it.  The tree gives us these weird round balls of 'might be fruit' that turn into these not so lovely looking, and downright horrid smelling flowers that attract large flies.  It has to go, but I just can't be okay with the idea of 'getting rid' of a tree for those reasons.

52 of 2013 - Week 25

52 of 2013 - Week 25. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Understanding Contrast'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Cloning'. I think I've covered both topics with one photo again. I cloned out pink sock monkey's tail. It was a little bit of white that looked more like a bunny tail, coming out to the left of the pink monkey. Edited with Photoshop to clone out the tail, and sharpen. Edited with PicMonkey for the Urbane Filter, which I'm terribly guilty of over-using.

52 of 2013 - Week 24

52 of 2013 - Week 24. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Manipulating Color with White Balance'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Delicate Photography'.  I think I've covered both topics with one photo.  I'm not sure what these blossoms are.  They are very fragrant and the bees are in love with the blossoms on the trees and the ants are in love with the ones that have fallen to the ground.

52 of 2013 - Week 23

52 of 2013 - Week 23. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Mastering Composition'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Playing Catch Up'.  I don't know if any of these three capture the themes or not.  I must be covering one theme or other in playing catch up.  I just liked these shots.  So here they are.

52 of 2013 - Week 22

52 of 2013 - Week 22. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Food Photography'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Wrinkles'. As usual, I'm not quite sticking with the theme, but I'm close. Popcorn kernels are almost food, soon-to-be food. As for wrinkles, the 2nd photo shows cracks (cracks are almost wrinkles) in the paint on this Pink Panther on Velvet painting. This used to belong to my parents, and I ended up with it. I've tried to research a bit about it, but all I can find is that they were typically done by street artists in Mexico in the late 1960's, early 1970's. I've seen various similar paintings on Google and eBay, and though the picture is painted of the same object (Pink Panther smoking long cigarette, moon in the sky, weird palm trees, etc.), they are obviously painted by different hands. It's a very cool art piece, none the less.

52 of 2013 - Week 21

52 of 2013 - Week 21 (May 18). Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Capturing Milestones'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Self Photography'.  Not a lot of milestones just yet.  And I'm still not feeling terribly social.  The photography has been mostly ignored the past few weeks.  So this will have to do.  I pulled out the camera.  Milestone.  Ta da!

52 of 2013 - Week 20

52 of 2013 - Week 20. Picaboo's theme for the week is 'Getting in Front of the Camera – How to Look Your Best in Photos'. My Focus 52 - Pixel Project theme is 'Windows & Doors'.  I think it's fairly easy to tell which is which, here.  And yeah, a door knob isn't technically a door or window.  But it's close.  So there it is.
